In case you were wondering, yes, this is VERY much still a style work-in-progress, and possibly the beginning of a beautiful Fug Madness campaign for next year. The above is by Diane Von Furstenberg, and I can’t tell if it’s ONE dress that’s patterned/painted to look like a shirt under a strapless mini, or if it’s a strapless mini with a stretchy, shiny purple sheath layered over it. Regardless, to me it is more loudly vexing than daringly neat. And that color scheme should only be seen on petit fours.

She went with another massive sleeve, this time by Lela Rose, at Paleyfest.

This is mixing way too many trends. It’s cold-shoulder AND inflates over her forearms AND has capri pants AND there’s a ribbon belt. AND, for what it’s worth, I think a headband. Mandy Moore is not an artisanal cocktail made by virgin grass-fed mixologists. Stop throwing ingredients at her.
