London Fugshion Week: Burberry Prorsum

Well, considering how much I disliked what they put on Rita Ora and Freida Pinto, I figured I might as well check out the rest of the show. We only got highlights in our subs, but if you want to see the whole thing (and in order), pop over to The Cut.

The translucent coat in slide 10 makes me think of Joanna Cassiday in Blade Runner which was not a successful look for her in the end. Also, “What UP, Michael Stripe?” made me laugh out loud. Don’t ever change.

As questionable as Burberry’s designs often are, their colour pallete is always divine.

There are some seriously covetable coats here, and I love the flats on the runway : those shoes Rita Ora and Freida Pinto were wearing are boringly hideous.

Between the plastic skirts and the pelvic-arrow dress – and the Michael Stripe outfit, AND the pants on Rita Ora and Frieda Pinto – I am beginning to suspect that no one at Burberry understands how legs work. The crotches on the pants are all wonky, and the aforementioned skirts ride up and/or fall oddly. What is going on over there?

Just wondering why there’s such a shortage of makeup on these modelly girls. They all look like they’re getting over the flu. Is the au naturel look really the new thing? What about a bit of lipstick at least? Please, that pasty nude lip is doing no one any favors.

I’ve said it before (earlier today, actually) but WHAT HAVE LIPS EVER DONE to deserve such a fate? There’s a huge difference between a “natural” look, and one in which the lips are flesh colored (which isn’t natural at all).

The “red ghoulish smile-slash-pelvic arrow” dress in slide #6 reminds me of an evil, discolored Kermit the Frog. I think it’s the breast eyes.

    Those 2 coats and looks #4 & #13 are MY LIFE! ♥

    Love it!

The brown blouse and maroon skirt looks really good for me.

Fuggirls, tiny thing, but can you please stop using the word vagina when what you’re referring to is actually the labia or vulva?? A vaginal apron would look a hell of a lot more different to what you think it is!

    • Jessica

We know the difference. Vagina is just a funnier word in the same general neighborhood.

  11. Carrie

I want every pair of those shoes. Divine.

I actually really like the look of this collection, especially the heart blouse. The color is going to be huge in the fall!

Great…really looking forward to everyone wearing plastic skirts and plastic tops…especially the forever 21 versions. yuck

  13. Suzie

Your jokes are great, Heather! Don’t ever change!

  14. Sandra

Have they been messing with genetic engineering at Burberry again? Slides #9 is and #10 are clearly made of the hides of gibras and cowraffes, respectively.

  15. Ines

i liked the au naturel look, especially the hair and eye make up.

I get pleasure from, cause I discovered exactly what I was taking a look for. You have ended my 4 day lengthy hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day. Bye

If the Burberry fairy would like to kindly deposit outfits from slides 4, 5, 8(!) and 13 into my closet, with the bonus of the collection of flats, to my closet promptly, I would be eternally grateful.

  18. Sabrina

Flats! Love the flats! I love my heels but it’s nice to see that someone remembers not every outfit requires a six-inch platform sandal.

Also, that red coat is TO. DIE. FOR.

I just read that Joan Collins is Cara Delevigne’s Godmother….I like her even more now.

    Is Burberry serious?
