And THIS is how your Oscar gown is supposed to fit.
I agree. She looked fantastic.
Gorgeous. Beautiful styling.
It’s unfair that no one else gets to be her.
Oh, that’s sweet!
I heart you. <3
Ha, I was just going to say “perfect!” as well. This dress is simple but gorgeous, fitted exactly right, and you can tell she feels great in it.
Loved it. Just beautiful. She reminds me so much of one of my cousins in the face. I’m so happy she won!
High 5 Octavia! And high 5 to the Fug Girls for working so hard all day to keep me so distracted. Worth it!
I prefer to think that in that last picture she’s raising the roof. Which she totally deserves to do.
I love that last picture. Love.
Love her, love the dress!
As Lainey wrote, she saved the best for last.
She is awesome!
Jennifer Lopez needs to take a cue from Ms. Spencer. Perfection.
It *is* perfect! She looks absolutely gorgeous…and happy!
Thank you, Octavia! Yes, world, you don’t have to be a toothpick to be amazing!
There were some lovely dresses last night, but this is the only one that I coveted.
This and Milla Jovovich’s, for me.
Like Emma Thompson’s dress when she won, In 5, 10+ years from now it will still look good.
Amen! Yay for Octavia, and propers to her stylist!
*sigh* so perfect…especially with Christian Bale as an accessory. Congrats Octavia!
YOU go Glen CocO!
OOO I forgot to mention: That Tate Taylor gentleman is a stone cold FOX. Yum. Again, you go Glen Coco!
And by Glen Coco, I mean Octavia.
BEAUTIFUL!!! This is how an Academy Award Winner should look like and it is kind of what I want my mom to look like at my wedding! I’m not saying she looks like the “mother of the bride”, but that I would love for my mom to look this beautiful, elegant and age appropriate! Well Played, Octavia! FAB!!! I’ve loved her since she played Serenity Johnson on one of my favorite Comedy Central shows, “Halfway Home”… Who knew Serenity would win an Oscar? AWESOME!
Hey, I just checked and she was in “A Time To Kill” & “Miss Congeniality 2: Armed & Fabulous” with Sandra Bullock! LOVE!
Love it…her, the dress, the fact that she won, how touching and graceful her speech was…everything = perfecto!
I thought she was the BEST DRESSED of the night, bravo Octavia.
She definitely saved the best dress for the big night. This was perfection head to toe.
Perfection. I think her breasts are just fine (she says she’s getting them lifted).
Good for her!
H A P P Y!!!
Tadashi Shoji knows how to dress all kinds of women’s shapes. I love his clothes.
So lovely…and sparkly!
And maybe it’s wishful thinking, but that last picture looks like mid-’raise the roof’ to me.
Wow, that Tate Taylor guy is cuuuuuuuuuuuute.
Octavia and Meryl are the luckiest bitches in the world. Not because they won Oscars, but because they got to cuddle up with Christian Bale and Colin Firth. Sigh.
She’s totally my pick for best dressed of the night. She looks phenomenal, and seems to have a terrific personality too.
Love her to bits!
I love everything about this – it’s simple but eye-catching, her hair is perfect, and she seemed to be having a fabulous time. Definitely one of the best of the night.
I think this beautiful neutral with star burst effect and neat updo was what JLo was trying to accomplish. Seriously. And Octavia wins that one hands down. She looks stunning, her hair is natural and relaxed, and she does it with modesty as well as panache’.
she looked so fantastic and genuinely happy and not all pouty which is always nice
She looks amazing. Her tailor needs a raise – pretty much everything she wears fits like a glove. She makes it look so easy, and I just don’t understand why more actresses can’t grasp the concept of wearing something that both fits and flatters you the way that Octavia seems to. Christina Hendricks, take note!
Gorgeous dress, you bet.
And that high-five shot may be my Photo Of The Week. Well played indeed, Miss Octavia.
Who is the designer? Because apparently she wore the same designer during the awards seasons. Because THIS designer, this designer needs more attention. Of course the dress is beautifully tailored, but he or she understood how to flatter her. She’s got a beautiful face, but so does Melissa McCarthy and sigh. I love how all the focus of the dress is towards her waist and how nicely the sleeves fit her arms–not too short, not too long. I do give her props for being comfortable in her own body too.
The designer is Tadashi Shoji!
She’s gorgeous. A well-deserved Oscar, too.
Perfect dress! I found new website with discount codes. It’s pretty cool, I bought a nice stockings in ann summers shop here
I have notes.
#1 She looks fabulous.
#2 I can’t wait for the close-up of her earrings in the GFY Oscars Accessories post, which I’m sure is forthcoming.
#3 I would love to see more of the kimono in photo 2.
#4 I ALSO want to close out the evening with Christian Bale. Oh my.
yes, hers were my favorite earrings of the night.
This is the best I’ve seen her look all awards season. It’s true that her dresses fit her very nicely in general, but this one combines everything: the texture, the fit, the shape, the colour… It really compliments her figure and it’s refreshing to see someone who has a different body shape than most of hollywood look this amazing.
I love this! Gorgeous fit and IT HAS SLEEVES! Short sleeves are so chic (especially if like me you hate the tops of your arms).
This is my favourite dress of the night, alongside Jessica Chastain (sleek, edgy and not at all boring) and Emma Stone (perfect colour with her hair and I loved the gorgeous big bow- very cute).
She was perfect, not only in dress, but in attitude. When Monique won a couple of years ago she seemed to get more smug and entitled as the awards season went on, but I see none of that in Octavia. I saw her on GMA and Live with Kelly after the Oscars and she was incredibly charming and gracious and sassy and funny. I love her!
She is the incarnation of gorgeous.
Classy lady .. elegant gown
I’ll add my plus vote to all those above. She is beautiful.
This is, as Dan Jenkins would say, dead solid perfect. Yay for her knowing what looks good on her and going with that, rather than trying to Make A Statement with her clothes. Way to look like a movie star and behave like a real (and nice) person!
She is perfect. The makeup, the hair, the dress, the self. I haven’t seen The Help nor am I really interested, but she seems lovely and I’m glad she won.
Not too tight, too short, to nothing but cute! she is precious!
Octavia Spencer should recommend her stylist to Melissa McCarthy.
I was wondering who the cute guy sitting next to her was. Thanks for clearing that up, Jessica. Nothing else to add. Well-played indeed.
Octavia looked fantastic! Christina Hendricks should call her stylist ASAP!
I am still slightly baffled that The Help is a thing that people think is good. I’ve liked Octavia and Emma and Viola in a number of roles in the past but that movie just does not look good…at all.
