In 2013, Gwyneth Paltrow said of the Met, “I’m never going again. It was so un-fun.” In conversation with Amy Schumer, Lena Dunham said it was a “crazy countdown” to when they could bail, and Schumer countered by calling it a punishment, recalled telling Beyonce it would be her first and last time there, and griped, “We’re dressed up like a bunch of fuckin’ assholes… I left earlier than I should have been allowed.”

But, then 2017 rolled around, and Amy has a movie to promote and GOOP — the brand and the lady — has a magazine in development with Conde Nast, the empire over which Anna is overlord. And Lena is… I don’t know. Filming a movie and figuring out how to follow Girls. So voila! Guess the Met isn’t so wicked when you need it. But what gets me is, don’t you think Anna is probably really petty about his stuff? Like, Olympic levels of petty, and she has her own national anthem for the United States of Petty, and it was written by Lori Petty, performed by the Petty Shop Boys? So beyond the synergy with GOOP: The Magazine, or whatever, why is she cracking the door for Amy and Lena? I would’ve expected the coldest of shoulders.
