ALERT! (American) Thanksgiving is three weeks from today. If you’re hosting — or even if you’re not! — it’s probably a good time to look around and see if you need anything cute or useful for the big day. This year, I am not technically hosting because the big event is taking place at my parents’ house, but I am functionally hosting because I am in charge of the entire shebang. (My childhood home just has way more room than my apartment does for a big event. Also, my mother had like 500 different tablecloths, at least two of which will come in handy.)
I’m ordering most of the food — I cannot face cooking a whole bird this year, but I can face shoving one into the oven to reheat — so that is off my mind (mostly), and I’m trying to be a good delegator, which is not my personal strength. All of which means, I have a little airspace to think about cute ideas for the table. Maybe we need Thanksgiving crackers this year! What if I serve the appetizers on plates that look like autumn leaves? These are charming napkin rings! (And these are fabulous.) Maybe your dog needs a toy that looks like a stuffed turkey! How about some candles that look like CHEESE?!?!? Maybe what you really need is a cute little knife to make prep easier; I have this one and I LOVE IT. Listen, I don’t know your life! Maybe something here will strike your fancy:
