We had a request for this a while ago — a post of any and all products that aren’t perfumed. This is a tough one, because now unscented is anything, truly? I have accordingly spent a lot of time shoving my nose up into things to see if they carry a scent (including my fridge, which we did solve, mercifully), so that I can report back.
The two most truly blank products I’ve found: Seen’s fragrance-free shampoo and conditioner, which I tested for this exact purpose and really like, and the Freaks of Nature’s SPF 50 sunscreen. It’s VERY rare, to me, to find a sunscreen that doesn’t smell like anything and also does heavy-duty work. That sunscreen is very thick, and it does take a minute to fade into your face; as a fair skinned person, I can’t say for sure whether it leaves a white cast on anyone who isn’t, but it eventually neutralizes for me. However, and this is the advantage to those in need, it also smells like NOTHING. I don’t know how they did it. Honorable mention to Ultra Violette’s offerings, which have a little tint to them and consequently only smell a little bit like makeup would. They do also make a specific fragrance-free gel sunscreen as well, but I haven’t tried it.
The Soft Services Comfort Cleanse body wash (which does great double duty when you shave in the shower), is branded fragrance-free, and that also seems true. There is no whiff of added scent, but it does carry a faint odor of… soap. Or just general cleanliness. It’s not a smell I ever catch on myself after I’ve used it; just when I’m basically huffing it for scientific purposes. Lume’s unscented deodorant line smells like exactly nothing. And I just put on some hand cream from Remedy, and nada.
Dieux makes a face wash called Baptism that I use to clean off makeup, and it is truly unscented (Sephora is out of the fragrance-free version, but Dieux sells it direct). On that topic, their Deliverance serum is scent-free, and the Instant Angel moisturizer smells like… lotion, but nothing else. I have not detected any scent with any of the InnBeauty products, either, my favorites of which are the firming lotion and the Vitamin C serum. But I’m actually not that sure how many moisturizers or serums tend to carry scent, actually, so those recs may be beside the point. I’ve definitely run across a couple — maybe we’ll do a post for Robustly Scented Items next where we can share all of those.
