Because all we really did on Friday was narrow this down.
Who was the best dressed at the Golden Globes?
Who was the worst dressed at the Golden Globes?
Oh come on! Tina and Amy had a couple of outfits against Lucy’s one, so it’s not fair. And, I’ll give you Tina, but how creative is it to pair a tuxedo jacket with a pair of black cropped pants? And that maroon thing on Poehler makes her look wide and boxy. Lucy Liu all the way!
I do not like the Lucy Liu wallpaper gown. I don’t know what you guys are thinking. Also, I love Amy’s red dress. It was really one of of my favorites of the night.
Rancic for the worst. If you look closely at Amanda’s gyno robe, it could work in some other dimension after restyling the whole thing and worn to a picnic instead of a Globes party.
Yeah, but she DID wear it to a Globes party. That’s what’s so offensive about it. IMO
Just a reminder that “you guys” IS actually you guys. These are the top vote-getters from Fug Nation, I didn’t just decide who to put in the run-off.
Oh, I know. I meant everybody.
Lucy Liu – for the worst dressed! She is too short for both this gown and this hair-style. (and I do admit that she is a very stunning lady)
What’s with you guys ignoring Jodie Foster? She was the best-dressed by far! I know some people fall through the cracks but she had the most covered speech of the night so I’m not sure why her dress wasn’t Well-played!
Really? Jodie’s dress was average at best. It was just a standard, run-of-the-mill sequinned evening dress. The speech doesn’t make it better.
While the ‘gown’ Halle wore was a hot mess, Amanda ‘Sister-Wives, Saturday Night’ Peet takes worst dressed in my mind. It was like she forgot that she was going to an evening awards show.
I LOVED Lucy Liu’s gown, but the hair was just bad. Darn.
Guys we all love Tina and Amy but come on, Lucy’s gown was absolutely gorgeous!
I didn’t think Amy and Tina’s combined sartorial effort was brilliant. I thought Tina’s black-and-white dress looked amazing, but I think people are voting for them because their hosting effort was such a success. It’s hard to feel anything but adoration.
I would have second thoughts about wearing Amanda Peet’s dress if I were headed to the grocery store; forget wearing it to an awards show,
Exactly. I am a schlubby dresser at times but seriously, I wouldn’t have that in my closet as an option during a lazy Sunday when I don’t leave the house, and even if I did, I wouldn’t wear it.
Halle’s dress, even without all the slits and cutout hooha, makes her right boob look like she’s wearing her liver on her chest. Gross and not anatomically correct.
Lucy Liu’s gown actually stumpified her. So best friends for the win!
I wore Amanda Peets ‘gown’ when I was in the hospital. Having surgery. I just didn’t get the cummerbund to go with it.
I find Lucy Liu to be so pretty, and I loved her gown. Such a breath of fresh air.
The worst part about Halle’s gown is that she has NO excuse to look that ridiculous. None. She is Halle M’er F’ing Berry. For that reason alone, she got my vote for worst.
Exactly. Halle Berry should know better to wear a hot mess that makes one of her boobs look shrunken.
Okay, I’ve fallen so far off the bandwagon here, I can hear it steaming miles ahead (is that what bandwagons do? I don’t know.)
First off, I love Hallie’s outfit. It outlines her beautiful figure, the colors are youthful, she looks shapely! And her hair is cool, like every Scandinavian electronica artist ever. I don’t get what’s supposed to be so wrong about it? OKay, so the boob asymmetry is a bit unfortunate, but that doesn’t qualify it to be the worst of the worst, IMHO.
And what on earth’s so great about Tina & Amy’s outfits? Pfft, black and white, plain and boring. I could wear the same thing tomorrow, and I’m not a celebrity gazillionaire.
Lucy Liu looks like a lampshade.
WHAT AM I NOT GETTING HERE????
Shhhhh… It’s okay. *rocks you* Everyone is different and that’s okay. President Obama said so.
Guiliana’s dress is cray-cray, but she’s had a tough year so I’m giving her a break. Amanda Peet, you win!
I really liked Amy’s & Tina’s outfits – especially Amy’s, who most people seem to think didn’t do so well. I thought she looked sexy yet classy.
But Lucy Liu had me literally gasping when I saw her on TV. I even think the much maligned braid works great with the outfit.
Halle Berry was my worst! But I had Helen Mirren as best. Lucy Liu for best dressed, really? REALLY???? I seriously do not get it.
I didn’t really care for Lucy Liu’s gown at all. Okay, fine. I liked the overall shape, but the pattern looked like a blotchy mess. And I so very much loved Tina’s blue (green?) dress – so freaking gorgeous. She looked like a movie star. That alone would have been best dressed for me, so the added bonus of Amy looking hot was just, well, an added bonus.
I still think Jessica Chastain was worst dressed, but since I have to choose among these three, I would say …. I have no idea. Halle and Guiliana dressed in a way that makes their bodies look strange. Amanda wore a hospital gown. But not to the actual show. Damnit, I can’t decide.
I think it’s unfair to pit Lucy’s one dress against two people in many outfits- but that’s not the reason I voted for her – It was just my favourite dress of the night.
I don’t think it’s fair that Lucy has to go up against the combined might of Tina/Amy, plus all of their many outifts. Unfair!!!
I am so not feeling Amy and Tina’s red carpet outfits.
Tina’s looks like she has spiders as a theme (plus I hate the collars for her boobs).
Amy’s pants suit is daring, and she wears it well, but it’s not really a “best” in my estimation.
I think this is a case where liking the person/persons more than the dress is affecting the collective.
It’s as if Tina and Amy (and their fabulousness personality-wise) are The Borg and we have all been assimilated.
I loved Lucy Liu’s dress and voted for her the first time, but …. Tina and Amy are TWO girls I love, so that’s got to count for something. Plus, truthfully, I am giving Tina and Amy extra points for looking great because as incredibly brilliant comedians whose brains are a national treasure, it would be possible for them to give a shrug and say “Eh, fashion, not my thing.”
Amanda’s was clearly the most hideous, but she didn’t wear that on the red carpet at the actual awards, so I don’t think that should count. After parties should be an entirely different category from the red carpet. Halle’s dress was awful and somehow made her body look deformed, but she still looked like Halle from the neck up. So Rancic gets my vote for her Victorian era neck brace gown.
I voted for Tina and Amy for best, even though I think Amy only looked nice, but not spectacular. Tina was the fashion star of that duo. I couldn’t vote for Lucy. I thought the dress was too much dress for her tiny frame and that messy braid almost ruined the whole thing.
Agreed, I think there’s a whole different standard for judging after party outfits and they don’t really compare to red carpet outfits. I wish we could choose the best/worst just of those who appeared on the red carpet.
Tina’s emerald gown made my jaw drop at the awesome, then my teeth clench and lips pull back in hissing seething jealousy.
Halle’s hair, Amanda’s shoes are rivals in fuggery; awful in themselves, they would bring down any outfit, even good ones much less these. And, um, Amy? put ‘em away.
Jessica Chastain was the worst dressed, with her baggy sky-blue dress and clashing makeup.
If I saw the others at a formal event, I’d think “I hate that style” or “Tacky tacky”. But if I saw Chastain, I’d think “Oh, honey, don’t you have any girlfriends?”.
Amanda Peet’s bracelet even looks like a hospital bracelet. The haid doesn’t help either; it looks like mine would if I pulled it into a ponytail or clip prior to being wheeled off to the OR.
Lucy might have had it if she had a different hairstyle. Although Tina in teal may well be unstoppable.
And Guiliana takes the worst because she was actually at the event on the red carpet, and methinks Amanda Peet was not. Enough awful to go around, though, for sure.
re: Amanda Peet, while her outfit is truly abhorrent, I feel that the awards for best/worst dresses should always go to someone who actually walked the main event’s red carpet.
re: Lucy Liu, I also don’t like that dress. I want it to be so much more interesting than it is. It didn’t go far enough and the blue is such a drab blue.
For Halle, I keep thinking of a Red Hot Chili Peppers song that goes “Put it Away Put it Away Put it Away Put it Away Now.”
I think Halle Berrydefinitely deserves worst dressed. Maybe Peet’s dress is worse, but Berry’s is full of so much ridiculous and unnecessary Try, I can’t help but vote for her.
I see i’m not the first to think of it. Amanda Peet’s dress is giving me flashbacks to the days following my two C-sections….immobilized and in general agony.
Halle is a post-assault mess, Giuliana is off kilter, but at least they wore gowns.
Amanda needs to take her medication and go back to the care facility.
Tina and Amy had many wardrobe changes and thus had more opportunities to screw it up. Despite that, they looked fabulous at every turn. Lucy Liu’s dress is pretty, but not the best dressed or even runner up. I would put Jennifer Garner or Claire Danes ahead of her.
I liked Lucy’s dress, but I actually voted for Claire Danes. I would have voted for Tina if Tina and Amy had been separate entries. I LOVED Tina’s opening monologue gown. She looked so amazing in that moment.
I suppose I voted for Lucy Liu, since it’s two against one here. I love the risk she took. I also understand that that risk didn’t appeal to everyone. It really is a divisive dress, but I fall on the side of loving it.
I voted for Giuliana. Amanda Peet looks a fool, but she didn’t wear it on the red carpet. Plus, she looks a little…off. I’m blaming it on her mood. Halle gets a pass because she’s Halle and she usually doesn’t look that bad. Guys, Giuliana wore that dress, on purpose, WITH A SMILE! I can’t.
Thank you, that answered the question I had, as to whether Amanda Peet dragged that dress along with her IV rack down the actual red carpet. Since she didn’t, I’ll have to choose between the other two.
“I did not think Fug Nation would hate [Halle's dress] as much as you did, but you really really hated it.”
Halle’s acceptance speech for worst-dressed: “You hated it, you really, really hated it!”
