Fug or Fab: Gwen Stefani

fug-or-fab

I recognize that this is an enormous amount of animal print. It’s an embarrassment of animal print. Even a leopard is looking at this and going, “Lady, tone it down. You’re not out on the savanna.”

However, she’s carrying it off as much as anyone ever will. I mean, if you’re going to see a celebrity in this suit — if it is inevitable — you want it to be either Gwen Stefani or Sharon Stone. Wait, now I’m sad it wasn’t Sharon Stone. SHARON. Why have you forsaken us?

But is it okay?

Can’t fault the impeccable fit. Dang.

I hate how much I like this on her.

NO. We were all oohing and aahing at her never-aging face in the TCA post, but this suit makes her look geriatric.

Love how shiny and healthy her hair looks, that is not easy for super peroxide blonde ladies to pull off!! And no extensions thank goodness.

As for the suit, yeah it works. But I hope it doesn’t give anyone else ideas…

Oh sweet…of all thing that are holy, NO! NO! NO! NO! No one but a Golden Girl can pull that off, and even then, Sophia would rip on her for it.

    She can carry it off.

But it’s not a matter of “can”. It’s a matter of “should”.

Agreed. This is as good as this type of thing could be, but it’s still far from Gwen looking her best. This much pattern obscures her great shape.

I prefer her slightly rumpled creative-casual look, or ultra-sleek SuperGlam. Cheetah Barbie isn’t my fave, but is still better than me on a Thursday morning!

I feel compelled to say this until Gwen somehow hears me. I know it’s your signature but I’m so sick of the bleached out hair and heavy makeup. It was fun at first and now it’s just tired.

I hate that suit no matter who wears it.

I am more concerned with the plasticky looking material than the print.

On her, I think it works. And the fit is flawless; it appears to have been tailored by God.

I’m in the “it works on HER” camp… I can’t really think of too many people who can carry this off.

Few can carry off an all-over print like this, but she can. What I don’t like is the way the pants are bunching up around her knees. I think I would have preferred the animal print bottom in the form of a slim skirt …or a pair of pants that fit better.

I’m just concerned for any stray impalas in her path.

I was going to vote that it looks OK only on her. My problem with that option is that her wearing it will encourage others to think its OK for them. Which it is not. In any way. Ever.

Cheetah-print catsuits are never the right answer, but I think the jacket actually offends me more. It makes her top-heavy.

This suit will not only cause the leopards to call on Gwen to tone it down, it will also send the leopards out to the Savanna Mall looking for neutrals.

Only on Gwen…. and like someone else said, above…. Sophia ala Golden Girls.

My own rule is to only wear one small piece of leopard at a time, lest I look like Lisa Rinna.

Two is iffy and three is far too much, even on Ms Stefani. If she had swapped the top for something red, or swapped the jacket for black, then MAYBE. I do love her commitment to red lipstick.

I’m with Mahastee on that one.

I was perhaps thinking black skinny jeans and a red scarf to tone it down. That said, Ms Stefani looks better than anyone who is wearing a colony of fake leopards has the right to look. She has a clever make-up person. We are the same age, and red lipstick migrates everywhere and looks clownish on my 42 year old face. Sigh.

I’m so over her shtick. It’s been the same tired stuff for nigh on 15 years. BOOOOOOORING!

Yes and yes. Just ONE of these pieces should NOT be leopard, pants, jacket, top, pick one.

LOVE!!! That outfit is AWESOME and Gwen pulls it off beautifully! Plus, if I would cover a chair in my salon with that fabric, it means that it is FAB! I wish I was her… COVET!

If anyone can pull it off, it is her!

My grandmother has dressed like this (well the print, not the fit) for as long as I have known her. I hardly see the animal print.

No no no. And no again. It’s awful. Not even Gwen can pull this off. I actually expected better from her.

Only she could wear this and wear it successfully.

    I can’t lie, I love it.
    Those pants, I must own.

I’m sorry but for me tight, shiny, leopard print is always a big FUG, no matter how well it is (intended to be) carried. I ‘m so over the boots+tucked pants style she’s been sporting for years now. I did love indeed the kimono trend she set circa 2006, while expecting her first child.
