Fug Money

I know it’s inching toward winter, and sometimes when it’s chilly, substance wins over style.

But the way all these layers have come together, I’m concerned she’s one flower truck away from getting picked up by a smug Svengali who wants her to discuss the weather on the Spanish plains.

How does she manage to make herself look stumpy? She’s, like, 14 feet tall!

“Team Katie”!! (even though this skirt looks sister-wifeish)

“Team Katie” as well! Although, I think she looks like Debra Messing on “Smash”!

Or a raffish pork pie hat. Then we’d definitely be in Pygmalionville.

I think this would have worked if she had worn pants instead of the skirt.

Keep the coat, change everything else. Wear nice jeans, boots, and a sleek blouse instead of pairing jeans with the denim shirt she’s wearing.

Wow, that skirt/tight/shoe combo is just WILDLY unflattering! She has no idea how to dress her lower half. Her legs always look so hugely out of proportion to her torso.

She’s one of those people who just needs to keep it simple. The days when she tries too hard to be stylish, things go awry verrrrry quickly.

I agree, Issie: She is either a frumpy librarian here or someone who decided to wear all the clothes they own, at once.

Dude, I am a frumpy librarian and I wouldn’t wear that get-up to a skunk wrassle. Don’t blame this on us. ;)

That skirt is so Little House on the Prairie. Doesn’t Katie own a nice pair of pants to go with the jacket?

I thought at first that you said “picked up by a smug Sevigny” which would also explain this outfit.

This looks like she was the sole survivor of a thrift store explosion.

I think she looks lovely–relaxed, funky, at ease with herself. It seems she dressed for herself today, and I love that.

I think she wants to blend in and who can blame her. The relief is evident on her pretty face.

Ummm…I like the blazer, scarf, hair, and sunglasses. The rest hurts my eyes.

Hmm this is how I dress though a little less layered.

And the shoes. Well our Prime Minister took yet another fall in her heels so perhaps its time for a sensible shoes movement?

Also possibly a dress reform movement in which we do away with bandage dresses and lycra and other instruments of torture and aim to look like comfortable frumpy librarians-I would be on board that train quick as a flash.

She does look content, so I’m going with bad picture/thick socks/weird angle. No way can she actually be that cankly.

She has the absolute worse style. THE WORST. Left to her own devices she comes up with the most horrendous combinations that are so blandly ugly, you can derive no joy or pleasure from seeing her.

The jacket she can keep, and the bag. But the rest is proof that sunglasses do NOT improve all looks.

Katie Holmes isn’t good at shoes. Those are really slippers. She has kinda chunky legs (I know that’s nasty, but I do too) and she needs to balance them out with some substantial, architectural shoes. Maybe wedges like Kate Middleton’s.

I wonder what would happen to her legs if she did Pilates? I am actually curious about that, in a scientific way…not a shaming way.

    Over-layered?

If she took away the denim shirt and replaced it with a black or gold blouse, I would totally wear this! Those sunglasses are so cool that I’d steal them from her… And I love her! I love the jacket & the skirt as well! WANT! She must be coming out of or going into rehearsals for her new Brodway show and looks pretty comfortable to me! GO KATIE!!!

    She looks happy.

Hey, she doesn’t look bad at all! She’s dressed appropriately and not unflatteringly (and, dare I say it, better than when she was Mrs Cruise). Maybe the denim shirt doesn’t go woth the rest of the outfit – a nice navy or primrose shirt would be better, perhaps.

I don’t mind this, for some reason, although taking it apart piece-by-piece, I really should. Perhaps a slightly more elevated shoe? Those flats ground her a bit too solidly. Her hair looks beautiful and her sunglasses are great.

I think what she’s going for is her version of an Annie Hall look. Which I guess is not that easy to do, unless you get it *just so*.

that skirt length does nothing for the cankles :(

I can’t believe this got fugged. She looks fine here. I can’t believe posters are like “a denim shirt hurts my eyes”! Give me a break. I doubt that most of us dress this well if we are just heading out for the day.

I think she looks fine. I mean, I wouldn’t think anything bad if I saw her on the street (oh wait, she is) or going to work, etc. If this is so the worst (and I mean I’ve seen A LOT worse at my workplace–I work with the public), what is one supposed to wear to work and out and about.

This would have been better with boots, methinks!

I’m just glad she looks happy and healthy.

I’m with TereLiz. Boots would have saved this. Flats are incredibly difficult to wear with skirts/dresses.
