I just want to congratulate the people who made the trailer for Pitch Perfect 3 for resisting the impulse to mention Hailee’s and Anna Kendrick’s Oscar nominations. And you should congratulate me for resisting the impulse to wax poetic yet again about how I feel like Hailee Steinfeld’s decision to split her energy between pop music (at which she is passable but not exceptional) and acting (at which she is very talented indeed) is one that will eventually bite her in the ass. There was a blind item a few years ago that said that Meryl Streep sat Hailee down and told her to focus, and, honey, when Meryl tells you to do something, you do it.
