If Michelle Williams’s award season was the one Where She Was Consistently Nominated But We All Knew She Wasn’t Winning, and Michelle Yeoh’s was The Awards Season Where She Started Winning and Kept Winning and Then We All Knew She Was Likely to Win The Big One, and Angela Bassett’s was one Where She Was the Front-Runner For a Long Time And Then Somehow Lost Momentum After The SAGS But It Was Still Pretty Up In the Air Until The Oscars, then Ana’s was the one Where She Just Had a Great Time Because She Knew She Snuck In There But No One Was REALLY Mad at Her The Way They Were at Andrea Riseborough. (Although by all accounts, Ana is great in Blonde, a movie I do not need to see.) She also didn’t come to too many events, which may have been because of other professional obligations, or because she just didn’t feel like campaigning was worth the effort this time.

Interestingly, in researching this, I realized that Ana is no longer being styled by Karla Welch (who did an amazing job with her for the Knives Out era) and is now with Samantha McMillen (who also does Brie Larson and Evan Rachel Wood and both Fannings; my theory is that Elle Fanning is to Samantha McMillen as Zendaya is to Law Roach). This has been going on for, as best I can tell, between a year and a year and a half, but I think I just twigged to it. ANYWAY.  Let’s see how this went!
