TCA is when the Television Critics Association — hence the initials! — assembles in Pasadena at a very fancy hotel (from which I once purchased a vintage doorknob) to listen to various networks pitch their new and returning TV shows, and ask pertinent questions so as to write informed TV coverage. (I also assume that they all enjoy being reunited with each other twice a year as well, the way I was always delighted to see my fellow Fashion Week compadres.) On my end of things, it is when I have to look at various actors who’ve just gotten a big break and make an executive decision: Is this person going to be famous enough that I’m going to want to have chronicled their red carpet career from its very beginning? Time to find out who made the cut. The first requirement, of course, was a SNAZZY PATTERN.
