Hello everyone! I am currently technically hopefully out of town, so consider this a missive from far-off lands! (I am writing this Wednesday morning. I’m sure Heather will add to it over the next few days!) I hope your weekend is a delight. If you plan to be watching the big Eurovision finale, we will be hosting a LIVE CHAT over at Drinks With Broads on Saturday for paid subscribers. Please join us!

Speaking of DWB, Tuesday’s free issue tackled that new Cannes dress code, Jon Hamm’s latest (which I hate), and the fresh trailer of The Gilded Age, plus I Was Poisoned updates, and more. On Thursday, the paids marveled at the missed opportunities (and THROUPLE LIES) of Doctor Odyssey and thumbed through an etiquette book. Oh, and we took in the trailer for Ryan Murphy’s new show that stars Kim Kardashian (and a bunch of elite women who will act the shit out of it around her). It was a juicy issue.

Here at GFY, we traded summer book recommendations, and Cannes has begun — don’t miss a gown!

Speaking of books, I am ALWAYS here for a book list. Like the NYT’s Best Books of the Year (So Far). I’ve read NONE OF THESE so I better get on it. Speaking of books, I enjoyed Becca Freeman’s newsletter this week, attempting to predict the book of the summer. [gifted link for NYT]

I keep telling myself that I need to stop buying white dresses but… I really like this white dress! (It DOES also come in a denim.)

Elle wonders, Is the Reign of the Naked Dress Ending?

An excellent question, at Lainey: How do you feel about F1? My big thought right now is that Brad Pitt is (sorry Brad) too old to play a Formula 1 driver. All those top dudes are YOUNG! (I mean, I guess Lewis Hamilton is 40, but Brad is 61!)

So interesting about the Cowboy Carter tour — have you been? I am watching it as I did the Eras tour, via all my friends going and posting videos on Instagram.  It still looks amazing, even on shaky phone footage. Beyonce is always going to put on a great show. [Lainey]

SUCH a good read, at Smithsonian: Amaze Yourself With the Unbelievable Story of Bessie Coleman, the Black Aviator Who Wowed the Nation With Her High-Flying Achievements. I swear to god, a big budget Bessie Coleman movie was rumored a few years ago — I wish this would come to fruition.

I am currently packing for my upcoming trip and because we recently had a LONG convo about Pants to Pack on Vacation, I feel like I need to tell you which ones I am taking. Right now, I am bringing my Frame jeans, which I love and which are surprisingly comfy. (These were gifted, FYI, but I would have bought them on my own if I’d tried them on at the store.) I’m also packing these Quince pants as recommended by many of you. (I think they’re better looking IRL than on the site.) And Ruti sent me a pair of those pants you have definitely seen all over Instagram and I really like them and am going to pack them as well. (I may wear them on the plane.) They are, FYI, pretty true to size but the petites are also petite in terms of the rise, so if you have short legs and a long torso, I’d go with the regular length.

The Adventurine — one of my fave websites — has moved to Substack. (This is happening a lot and will happen more; Substack is a better source of income now than ad sales, which have tanked, and it takes website hosting fees and all the associated technical headaches off a blogger’s plate.) This is a good piece about Ellen Barkin’s jewelry collection and the drama associated with its auction. I also love their recent fascinating interview with the jeweler who did the accessories for Conclave.

Speaking of jewelry: WOWZA. [TLo]

Oh, I feel strongly about this, especially with Memorial Day weekend and its attendant BBQs coming up. (I wonder if British and American tastes in beans differ. I suspect so.) At Bon Appetit: Which Canned Baked Beans Are Best?

At The Atavist: “His alleged victims say he bribed New York Police Department officials, stole millions in diamonds, and persuaded Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Kim Kardashian to shill for a scam cryptocurrency. So why is Jona Rechnitz still free?”

This is so good, at The Ringer: Where Four Loko Art Thou? A Search for the Last Original Cans of the 2000s’ Most Loved and Loathed Forbidden Alcohol. I’ll never forget the Summers of Four Loko. Not because I drank it, but because I liked reading about it on Gawker.

Did you know that Glen Powell has a line of CONDIMENTS?! The Cut reviews. (I feel like I need to get these for DWB.) This is very random of him. But I guess if Brooklyn Beckham has a line of hot sauce…it’s open season.

Heads up, if you’re starting to think about your patio, Wayfair has already kicked off their Memorial Day Clearance sale , which runs through the 27th. The sale is up to 70% off and they’re offering their “free and easy shipping” for orders over $35. My experience is that their patio stuff sells out VERY fast — like, I bought this outdoor ottoman just a few weeks ago and now it’s sold out — so ’tis the season, if you are in need. I have plenty of patio furniture at the moment but I am tempted by this chaise (it’s really marked down) and I feel like a person who should have a breton-striped (!) bean bag chair (!!). Right? Right.

Speaking of sales, I just saw a few as I headed out the door — Supergoop is currently 20% off everything, and Dr Diamond, which I was telling you is good but spendy, is offering 15% off $200, if you are feeling spendy but want to temper that a little bit.
