Technically, in this first shot, FKA Twigs is promoting The Crow, the remake of which she is starring in — I saw the preview a few weeks ago and while I can’t judge whether or not it will be good, it certainly looks incredibly atmospheric, as the original was. But if you were judging from this first look, you might be forgiven for thinking that she’s promoting a remake of Buffy The Vampire Slayer, in which she plays either the titular character or — pick your poison — Faith. (Sarah Michelle Gellar, of course, will be playing Ms Giles, the librarian/Watcher.) No one can say the 90s aren’t totally back.

In fact, the dress she wore for the premiere is VERY 90s. Sleek, understated, gorgeous:

And wisely allows the star of this look, her headpiece, to be the star:

This is WEIRD, for sure — but it’s also weird in a way that works for (a) this specific project, and (b) her public sartorial persona. To me, she always looks like the coolest, most intimidating girl in art school, who sports stuff like this and absolutely gets away with it because she’s got the bone structure but, more crucially, she’s also got the the vibe. This would have made sense for the Aliens promotional tour too — but this is NOT Cailee Spaeny’s vibe. Which isn’t a ding; this is hardly anyone’s vibe!
