Bugonia is a remake of a South Korean sci-fi movie about two dudes who kidnap a female CEO because they believe she’s an alien trying to ruin Earth. I can think of a lot of people currently who seem fairly likely to be planet-destroying alien shitbirds, but regardless: It’s the movie for which Emma shaved her head, on camera, which she told Vogue is taking a very long time to grow out. Wikipedia tells me: “Bugonia” is a Greek word, spelled “bougonia”, which refers to an ancient Mediterranean ritual or belief that bees spontaneously generate from the carcasses of dead animals, particularly oxen. I… am now very concerned about why Yorgos Lanthimos chose that title.
