One of Avril’s best bops, “Sk8er Boi,” came out twenty years ago, and that — plus a new album that hit early in the year — seems to be fueling the push behind getting her a Walk of Fame star. And she dressed both up AND down for the occasion, pulling out a hoodie for the official photos that seemed confusing until I heard the story behind it: When she was 16, the same age at which she signed her record deal, made her first trip to Hollywood and loved the Walk of Fame so much that she took a photo of herself lying on it in this exact sweatshirt. She says she kept it, and busted it out as a tribute.  This is validation for packrats, right here. Parenthetically, Avril has said she wants to make a “Sk8er Boi” movie, but honestly… isn’t that already basically the B-plot of Clueless, except that Tai did actually come to her senses and lock down Travis Birkenstock? So it’s like SAD Clueless. Hmm.
