Roxie Hart is a popular role to stunt-cast — that’s not a commentary on anyone’s ability, by the way, but it IS totally what they do; on Broadway, that show has been running FOREVER in a very old theater, so you’ve gotta do something to keep the money flowing. The latest Roxie is Ashley Graham, beginning April 15. In the runup to the Tonys, I envy anyone who lives within a train’s distance of New York, because of all the shows you can gorge on, but there’s also something so fun-sounding to me about taking in an old standard and seeing somebody try and reinvent themselves in it. Good luck to her, and I hope she will wear something bonkers to the premiere. It’s what she does best.
