First, and most importantly: Heather’s birthday is on Sunday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO HEATHER!!!! Actually also very very important: I know a big storm is heading toward Hawaii. If you live there, please stay safe and dry.

Also: Drinks With Broads is back this week! On Tuesday, we tackled The DinkHawk, and that casting news for Heated Rivalry’s second season. Thursday’s issue covered Star City, the quest to pick a Premier League team, and that Met Gala theme. Sigh.

Here at GFY, we had some great conversations — Wednesday marked the return of Give a Recommendation/Get a Recommendation!

Also, I rounded up a bunch of cute college gear — sweatshirts, pennants, glassware, jewelry. Lots of cute clear bags! It was really fun to put together! College football season will be here before you know it.

Overall, this week’s best sellers were (a) in a continued landslide, this very funny Widow’s Bay tee; (b) this J.Crew button-up (it IS good; it’s very over-sized), and (c) these Rothy sneakers. The (still ongoing) J.McLaughlin sale also really drove sales. Do I need a little white jacket?

An amazing piece: Happy Hour With the Vanishing Nuns of New York.

Good news: It’s Mortification Week at Ask a Manager. Go read everything from this week and die laughing. It’s so good.

A great round-up of good celeb memoirs at The Squawk this week! (I weighed in, in the comments, as well.)

Don’t forget to vote for invertebrate of the year.

Speaking of football: 101 fun fantasy football team names for 2026. Mine is named — for the third year in a row — Aaron Rodgers Darkness Retreat.  Heather always has a great name for hers.

PSA: Wayfair is having a (up to) 70% off sale of (mostly) summer stuff. I am considering this bedside table for use as a cocktail table. I also love this silly lamp. (Lamps are so expensive; Wayfair has a good selection of wireless ones. I kinda love this weird one, I feel like it would appeal to a kid who loves Marvel movies because it feels like it’s a magical stone or something? It might make a good night light.)

Speaking of sales, heads up that Bare Necessities is having one right now, if you need bras. They’ve got a lot of Wacoal in the sale, if that’s your Bra of Choice. Sports bras, too!

This new Ben Affleck thriller seems like it might be good. (I honestly think Ben Affleck is an underrated director. Argo is REALLY good.)

For my fellow Elemis lovers, QVC has a bunch of Elemis marked down through the end of the month. (QVC often has surprisingly good prices on beauty stuff.) I LOVE this moisturizer for day. In fact, this whole set is good.

On the topic of beauty, Quince is now carrying select brands. It seems that the perk here is that if you buy your beauty item at Quince — like the famous Bader face cream, which is regrettably quite good — you get a store credit. The credits vary — like, it’s $10 credit for this (actually really good also) Outset moisturizer, which is $44 — but it’s $100 for the Bader, and more for other high-priced brands. So not a bad scheme if they carry something you already use and you need to pick something else up at Quince.

Jeans are just one of those items where you’re always looking for the perfect pair. These are the ones I’m currently eyeballing. (While I was at AYR, I did notice one of my favorite white tees is on sale in limited sizes. If you have a longer torso, heads-up that it really does hit right at the hip.) Speaking of jeans, also: FYI that Gap is having a 40% off sale this weekend, in case you need anything. Do I want leopard print overalls?!?!

FINALLY: I cannot believe I am typing this, but Anthropologie emailed to let us know that their beauty advent calendar is available now. It WILL sell out. If you’re organized enough to be getting your advent calendar in mid-August, I salute you and HAVE AT.
