As I mentioned here recently, my New Year’s resolution this year is to be more financially organized, which meant I spent yesterday adding all my accounts and whatnot to Mint. Part of this Financial Organization Kick has also involved my downloading Digit, which, in their words, “analyzes your spending and automatically saves the perfect amount every day, so you don’t have to think about it.” (This is not an ad!) At the moment, I feel like the “perfect amount” is a little more than I would personally save but…that’s probably the point. I also downloaded Qapital on the recommendation of A LOT of my friends, because you can save for specific little goals using a variety of neat bells and whistles. (I am apparently the digital equivalent of that person who ferrets away little envelopes of cash all over the house.) Who knows if I am going to look back at the end of 2019 and say, “yay, I’m glad I saved that extra $1500 because I used it to SAVE AN ORPHAN!” or something — but I’ll keep you apprised. What I really want to know is what small change you made in your life last year that you’re really happy you did — from getting a bike, to using the library more often (that’s for sure one of mine!), to brewing your own beer, to using those wool dryer balls, to saving all your $5 bills, to moving to a tiny hut on the edge of town so you don’t have to talk to other people. (I guess that last one is a big change.) Share, so we can learn from your success!
