Peter Pan and Wendy is a live-action version of the story that stars Yara Shahidi as Tink, and Jude Law as Captain Hook. It’s a project that was much-delayed because of Covid, going back and forth from streaming to theatrical and now back to streaming. It’s a big deal for Yara: It’s her first film role since 2012 that’s actually HER*, rather than voice acting, and I believe also her first major part. I love her, so I hope she kills it. We need more premieres where this woman busts out dresses like this, which as far as I’m concerned is a splendid reason to give her all the roles.
* Whoops, except for The Sun Is Also a Star, which I apparently just… did not see on the list. That was 2019.
