I could see an argument for leaving it as it is — it’s unusual, at least — but I think we all know that I, myself, am not going to make that argument. I don’t think the elements make sense together. So Old Mother Crankypants here would cut out the satin pieces that look like they were salvaged from an old wedding dress, make the whole skirt sleek and striped like the middle piece is, then take a look at whether the mismatched buttons come across as fun accessories or like someone burgled their grandmother’s notions drawer. I’d chase that with a conversation about shoes, and then someone would gently place a hand on my arm and say, “Could we not have just tried a different dress altogether?” But that’s just my take.
