This cover is rad, and also cozy — which is exactly the kind of combo that a person needs for February. It’s also regal and eye-catching and just flat-out good, with bonus excellent accessorizing. Way to go, Allure!

Also: You know how I used to complain AD NAUSEUM about magazines having celebrities interview other celebrities? That seems to have fallen out of favor and it FOR REAL is not happening here, as Janet was interviewed by Pulitzer Prize winner Robin Givhan, perhaps the most legit fashion journalist. As you would imagine, this yields an excellent profile. It’s EXTREMELY good. (The photos accompanying it are also really cool, so I advise clicking through even if you are not in the mood to read things.) It’s not really a piece where one pull-quote can encompass the entire thing, but I did like this bit, where Janet is talking about aging:

“Everyone would always want to stay young and this and that but it’s inevitable. I mean, we’re all going to get there. There’s another road. It’s a little bit of zhuzh. I don’t know when my day is coming, but at some point it’s going to come and I can choose which path I want to take. I do hope I age gracefully. It’s either a little bit of zhuzh or gracefully.”

I love the idea of calling facial interventions “a little bit of zhuzh.”  (Janet talks with a lot great detail about aging in the piece, of course.) It’s such a gentle and enthusiastic euphemism. I wonder what my dermatologist would do if I just told her I needed some zhuzh.
