Team Wednesday is in France, and this promo event was billed for some reason as Wednesday’s Beach Club Opening — well, to be accurate, Le Beach Club De Mercredi. I get the joke of it basically being a cemetery, and I laughed, but from what I can glean this isn’t an actual premiere; just a photocall. It’s a lot of trouble to go to for that. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a THEMED one before. Is this is an actual pop-up people can go do for eerie drinks and bad ambiance?!?
Regardless, Jenna’s outfit is once again very apt. It’s serving “Like a Prayer” meets Disney villain. And it’s interesting to see this lined up next to what Andrew Mukamal is doing with Lindsay Lohan — as I noted, I like those because they work without the added context, but are richer when you know it. Whereas Jenna’s outfits are all EXTREMELY specific to the mood of this project. This one in particular would not do much for me anywhere else, but when she’s standing in front of a gravestone glowering at me, yeah, sure.
This shot looks more like she’s in the Les Mis touring cast getting ready to go onstage for “Lovely Ladies.” The makeup says, “Maybe she’s born with it; maybe she’s just about to come down with TB.”
