When else can you really wear an elegantly deconstructed Fashion Neck Ruffle but the premiere of a film set during the era of Peak Fashion Neck Ruffle? For what it’s worth, I’d like the dress no matter what, because I have a personal weakness for the Fashion Ruffle. But I think it extra works for an event celebrating a Mary, Queen of Scots/Elizabeth II project. I’m just rather irked that none of the men in this film appear to have shown up wearing a reinvented velvet doublet.
