We’ve spent this entire series looking back at people’s awards season wardrobes and discussing — with all due respect to Laverne Cox — what story they’re telling. Andrea seems to be saying, “ugh, this isn’t how I wanted this moment to happen.” She skipped both of the traditional pre-Oscars events, and of course wasn’t nominated for most of the other major awards, so didn’t go to the Globes, the SAGs, or the BAFTAs. She used to work with mega-stylist Cristina Ehrlich, but is now with Leith Clark (who is also a big name; she styles Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, and Zoe Kazan).
I will say that Riseborough has a FASCINATING red carpet history; I wrote a retrospective when the nomination hit and it was quite a ride. She’s a real chameleon. I look forward to seeing what she wears next.
