I’ve watched enough F1 at this point to know that many guests do just dress up, even when they’re going to be around revving engines and smelly (I assume) garages and soaring track temperatures. I don’t have to understand it, and I cannot imagine wanting to DO it, but I suspect in the end I too would feel like I had to bring it if I knew everyone around me would be. And thus, Kim, who has the spotlight on her a little brighter due to dating Lewis Hamilton, strolled around in vintage Roberto Cavalli. And friends, it looks great on her. It’s a beautiful dress, well chosen, and well fitted, and one of my favorites that she’s worn. Truly, it’s almost wasted on this event, and I assume it reeked of exhaust by the time she was done. But, well played, madam.
She only went back three years for this Alaia, which came down the runway in September 2023 for the Spring/Summer 2024 show:
Aaaaaaand, we’re crashing back to earth. It’s like she was asked to perform a waltz on Dancing With The Stars and then tore away the skirt to do a jazzercise interlude. Terrible. This must be the universe correcting itself.Kim has been digging a little deeper into designers’ archives lately, though, and I like that; she’s also occasionally worked with Law Roach and we know that’s his stock-in-trade. Whether it’s his influence, or merely a happy confluence of interests, I don’t know – butI’m curious if she’ll keep it going when she starts promoting All’s Fair again. That show is a blight, but that cast is going to serve complete derangement on the red carpet and admittedly I can’t wait.
