Per Vogue:

For the London premiere, Robbie wore a replica of a bracelet once made of the writer’s own hair. A piece of Victorian mourning jewelry, the original piece was owned by Brontë’s sister, Charlotte, and made from Emily and Anne Brontë’s hair. Haworth-based Wyedean Weaving fashioned a replica of the 175-year-old bracelet….The bracelet wasn’t the only piece of period jewelry Robbie wore on the London carpet. Stylist Andrew Mukamal also procured archival Boucheron brooches from the early 20th century. On her sternum, she wore the Walkyrie brooch from 1900, which features a cushion-cut garnet and diamonds set in yellow gold, with two Valkyrie profiles carved into the gold. Affixed to her braided hair choker was the Assyrian Lion brooch from 1920, a yellow gold lion visage, also embellished with a cushion-cut garnet and diamonds.

I think I speak for all of us when I say WOWZA. I have not loved everything Margot has worn on this press tour, but! At least it’s not boring, and I’m never going to be mad at someone for bringing us fascinating archival jewelry. (As you may recall, she also recently wore a major piece that once belonged to Elizabeth Taylor.) Under normal circumstances, I think I’d be unmoved by this dress but under this very specific circumstance, I think it works. She’s like a human piece of Victorian mourning jewelry; it’s VERY WEIRD, but this story itself is also very weird, so there you go. Someone on yesterday’s post noted that she hopes this iteration of Wuthering Heights turns out like Bram Stoker’s Dracula — not exactly wholly successful but visually stunning and pleasantly crazy, and eventually beloved thanks to the aforementioned. I CLEARLY remember seeing Bram Stoker’s Dracula in the movie theatre when it came out — and then again the next year, we watched it in one of my film classes — and it is unforgettable in a way that seems potentially similar.  You know I feel like we have to let people try to do weird art shit and if it doesn’t work out, c’est la vie! More weird art shit all around!
