The inevitable comparisons to Britney and Justin have already swept the Internet, but honestly, the 2001 outfits seem… better? Or at least iconically… something… in a way these aren’t. Justin’s outfit is still ridiculous, obviously, even in hindsight, but Britney’s seems so sweetly earnest, like she was a kid in love and excited to show it. I don’t know if it’s the changed landscape of the media world, or my own cynicism, but this feels more like two kids in love with flashbulbs.
Herein, we have these two and a few others at the Kenzo show, plus some attendees at the likes of Louis Vuitton and Dior. The front rows were not buzzing with star power, but I wonder if that will change today with Couture Week. It’s hard to tell where omicron has left things. There are some vivid patterns. But no visible abs. If Julia’s stomach is warm enough NOW to wear this, I can’t imagine what actual spring and summer will bring.
