It’s Memorial Day weekend for us Americans, and as such the unofficial kick-off of summer here. I don’t know what you’re up to this weekend, but whatever it is, I hope it’s safe and fun.

The Washington Post has an excellent interactive piece marking the centennial of the Tulsa Race Massacre; it’s very well-worth your time.

I thought this piece in the local Tulsa paper, Tulsa World, about the Greenwood Rising history center, which is opening this upcoming week as part of the centennial, was really interesting.

This is quite an amazing piece at the New Yorker: The Women Who Preserved the Story of the Tulsa Race Massacre

I loved this piece in the New York Times: Mmmm, Tastes Like America.

Settle down and enjoy this! At Vanity Fair: A Different World: Cast Members and Crew Tell the Oral History. My god, I cannot tell you how much I loved that show when I was a kid. Who doesn’t love Dwayne and Whitley!!!

This is fun and really smart: Girls5Eva’s Renée Elise Goldsberry on How Her Own ’90s Girl Group ‘Fell Apart.’ (You will get the most of out of this if you’ve seen all of Girls5Eva, btw.) [Vulture]

I predict this summer is going to be full of celebrities GONE WILD — it’ll be fun — and as such this seems like an entertaining addition to the Wait, THEY’RE Dating????? files: There’s a rumor going around that Kanye West & Irina Shayk are happening? [Celebitchy]

RELATED: Taika, Tessa, and Rita are all making out in public. It’s possible that we’re headed for a summer of light and enjoyable celeb shenanigans. [Lainey]
