Alison Brie and Aubrey Plaza have teamed up again, this time for a semi-rom-com called Spin Me Round that the AV says is “shape-shifting” in a way that lightly pushes back on the genre tropes, but ultimately “probably funnier in the room.” Personally, I am all for a big-screen rom-com that embraces genre tropes — after all, every genre has those, but rarely are they disparaged the way they are with rom-coms — but maybe that’s just me. The good news is that Alison Brie, who led the ESPYs Fuggery Class of 2022, has shaken off that dubious title in favor of looking foxy in a more… comprehensible way.
