Let’s talk fashion before we get to the important debate. Amal is in a Tom Ford gown — currently being designed by Haider Ackermann — and it will not be a gown that goes down in history, nor even one that we talk about ever again. I don’t know if that’s just really tight ruching, or quilting, or what, but it certainly looks like the kind of absorbent pad that would soak up a vat of martinis if anyone decided to walk up and hurl a few at them. This seems like it would be a lot more useful on The Real Housewives of Wherever than in the life of Amal Clooney, but hey, maybe someday she and George will get bored and start a Lake Como spinoff.
Yesterday, when we talked out her arrival outfit, a lot of folks said they’d love to see her with a bob. And I DO understand that logic. I frequently want people to try chopping it all off. But often, those are people whose hair seems like it might be in need of more care than it’s receiving, or just sort of lanky and tired, or like the hair stylist put in the extensions and then refused to trim them. But Amal’s hair is SO BOUNCY:
Whether it’s real, or fake, I don’t care. Whatever she and her team have done to her head is WORKING. It looks healthy and full and robust. It’s a feature, not a bug. And again, I’m SURE she’d look gorgeous with a chop, and it could all grow back and/or be re-installed at a later date, but in her shoes I don’t think I’d change a thing right now. That hair has rizz.
George is shocked, SHOCKED I tell you, that anyone would even think of it.
