Yay, it's our first full day with our new site host, and our new CMS, and our new comments, and our new everything! So far, things seem to be working pretty well, with a few minor issues and bits of weirdness which are to be expected with such a huge change. These are the current known issues and we're either working on them actively or will be fixing them when we can:
- The photos in our archives are currently borked for boring/complicated reasons I don't need to get into; we're fixing that! Just...don't worry about anything happening prior to, say, October 9 for the moment.
- The "start slideshow" button in Safari decided to make a run for it this morning and ended up way on the right top side of the page instead of where it's meant to be; this one should be fixed.
- A fair amount of internal links are broken, including celebrity post archives (like, everything under "Zendaya," or "Tom Hanks," the latter obviously being one you all use ALL the time to remember the hits). This is on the "to do" list!
- You know that dropdown menu at the top where it says "Awards and Galas" and whatnot? It's wonky in Firefox; this is also on the list!
- Some people have issues in Chrome with the scroll function on slideshow copy, i.e, it's not working. Two things:
- We learned that if you make the actual browser window smaller, at a certain point Ghost decides you're on a tablet and switches you to the tablet view, which puts the caption underneath the photo (and does not seem to restrict length);
- Changing your screen magnification to 90 percent has made the little mini scrollbar pop up for some folks. But we're looking into this. (This one is extra weird because MY Chrome looks totally normal. It might be a PC thing? We're investigating.)
- There is an intermittent issue where some folks are seeing the same copy for each slide. We're also investigating this!
- Links do not open in new tabs now. This is a Ghost thing and I don't know if I can fix it for us without it being... really annoying. I'm looking into it but for now, if you want to open in a new tab (I always do, I feel you), you need to do it manually, usually by right-clicking and then choosing "open in new tab." I am going to try to remember to manually hard code links for shopping posts and Fugs & Pieces!
- One person had trouble with not getting registered to comment because the email never arrived. If you have this issue, try adding go-fug-yourself@ghost.io to your address book (or list of safe addresses, or whatever), and register again. If that doesn't work, email us at fuggingitup@gmail.com and we'll get you sorted!
- If the site tried to get you to sign up for a newsletter when you subscribed, do not worry about it! We are not sending those! That's a Ghost thing we thought we disabled but maybe....did not? THIS IS FIXED! YAY!
