This wouldn’t have been formal enough, perhaps, but I feel like the time for experimenting with denim gowns was last September’s Met Gala, supposedly pinned to a theme of American fashion and at which only the merest handful of people toyed with the country’s famed obsession with jeans. At least then, we could have teased this out into a visual essay on the value in — or at least possibility of — upcycling, or somesuch. Instead, today, it just comes off as some moldering old scraps that became a student thesis.

Is that a carryall feature? Does it roll up and tuck itself into that pouch? Is it the Baggu of gowns? Now THAT would be a hook.
