The time has come, dear readers, to once again discuss what we’ve got on our bedside tables/beach chairs/deck chairs/ phone apps on the subway. What are you reading?

Me first!  I am currently reading — as in, just started last night — Courtney Maum’s Costalegre (which is very loosely based on the life of Peggy Guggenheim and her daughter Pegeen, about whom I would also like to read a proper biography). It’s very literary and beautiful and interesting so far; it’s also fairly short, so I should be able to get to my next book soon. I have Laura Lippman’s Lady in the Lake on deck!

Before this, I read the new Perveen Mistry mystery from Sujata Massey and I loved it; I think it was even better than the first book in the series, which I also really liked. I also read That’s What Frenemies Are For, by Sophie Littlefield and Lauren Gershell (I stan a lady writing duo!), which is ideal for your beach bag (with the caveat that I think it may resonate more with readers who are currently navigating the deep waters of children’s elementary school).  On the topic of co-writers, I also think you might enjoy Meet Me in Monaco by Hazel Gaynor and Heather Webb; it is about a French lady perfumer, a sad/dashing British photographer, and Grace Kelly, as she’s mid-whirlwind romance with Prince Rainer. (I am also only halfway through this one, but I feel confident that (a) it’s not going to go madly off the rails, and (b) it’s very likely right up your street.)

Your turn!
