This is ripped from a movie, in which an evil stepsister or jealous roommate pretends to lend the lead something “helpful” that turns out to be the most hideous garment imaginable, and our heroine has to rely on her pluck to save the day. In Gretchen’s case, the dastardly prankster appears to be a 12-year old girl who had an Easter dress to give away; thank her plucky stars that she found green sparkly shoes so that people would have something to talk about other than fumbling around about whether she might still believe bunnies hide eggs.
