Career-wise, Saniyya Sidney had a major enough year: She played both Sasha Obama and Venus Williams, the latter to what I think should’ve been louder acclaim in King Richard. That meant she had to navigate the tricky feat of an award season where she was the true co-star of the movie, but not the nominee, and also a 15-year old. She and her stylist, Alexandra Mandlekorn, handled it with joy and grace and panache, and we decided it deserved an accolade all its own.
