Penny played Sherry Palmer on 24, which was in its second season at this time — a season in which she had a main role, as opposed to recurring in season one. This whole photo has the aura of a woman who is really stoked to be at the SAGs, to be on a hit show, to be celebrated, to be feeling herself, to be there for playing a really meaty role (she got to play a Black First Lady, married to a Black president seven full years before the real U.S. elected one). I love that she went with bold colors and a big pattern and a wrap that kiiiiind of coordinates, and I love that she threw her arms wide and vamped. No one is ever too established to look around and think, “My job is EXTREMELY COOL.”
