The SAGs featured a ballyhooed The Devil Wears Prada reunion of Emily, Meryl, and Anne — they presented together — which I guess… is something people wanted? Even though the movie came out 18 years ago and that’s a bit of a random number? Are they celebrating The Devil Wears Prada being old enough to vote? Anne flew back in a hurry from Milan for it (she’s in a different post), and all it really amounted to was Meryl nearly wiping out when she came out alone to the microphone and Idris Elba momentarily freaking out behind her:
The gag was that she forgot her glasses and the envelope, and Emily and Anne brought them out to her, but in the process Meryl blindly tripped into the mic. Ergo, one could say The Devil Wears Prada nearly took out one of our national treasures. Which feels like a fitting legacy for Andy Sachs, the world’s worst assistant with the world’s WORST friends and boyfriend.
