The full title of the Met Gala theme is, or was, “About Time: Fashion and Duration,” which means you could show up as, say, any enduring trend (hello there, Easy Excuse For Sheers), or as any character or plotline in About Time, or as we joked, Flavor Flav. The former Public Enemy rapper says that, while wearing stopwatches around necks was somewhat popular in the mid-80s, someone dared him to wear a shower clock around his neck for a whole show in 1986 and he decided he liked it. Now it’s his signature, and if there isn’t a whole damn chunk of the Met dedicated to Flavor freaking Flav whenever they revive this thing, then I will be sad.
