London was the first city to host three Olympiads, and Paris next year becomes the second — it hosted in 1900, and then again in 1924, with a cool hundred years between that and next year’s. (Los Angeles will be the third city on this list, with the 2028 games, if the planet lasts that long.) With a year to go and national competitions beginning, the Olympics are a hot topic right now — and I also mean that literally, as the extreme heat of this summer is likely to repeat itself next year. All of which is to say, it’s a fun time to dig around for old photos from the 1924 games. There aren’t a ton, but enough to marvel at what a difference a century makes.
