Simone Rocha’s collections are not usually my cup of tea. Sometimes they’re fine, if a little fiddly, but then sometimes there’s a lot of strapping, and/or Maisie Williams ends up in bespoke fingerless potholders. Some of her designs for this really echo stuff she did on her own time, but by and large this collection does feel like a fusion of her identity and Gaultier’s, and I guess… that was probably the assignment? But I have a hard time appreciating very much of it on any of its own aesthetic merits. And I jumped in my chair when I got to slide 6’s lips and eyebrows. (Not the model’s own. You’ll see.)
