Ralph took a stab at naming this collection — he went with “The Modern Romantics,” and talked about the juxtaposition of masculine and feminine, and all that — but he could’ve just called it “The Ralph Lauren Fall/Winter 2025 Collection” and you still probably would have pictured a lot of it. He loves a sophisticated, wealthy countryside aesthetic. The women at whom this is aimed do not have homes; they have estates. They go to their stables for reasons beyond clandestine affairs. They probably remember Madonna’s Vogue shoot on her English estate and think, “That should have been ME.” And they definitely subscribe to Tatler and Town & Country, and have multiple text chains based on which of their friends have appeared in either (or both) and needs to be chortled about on the down-low.
