TECHNICALLY, this party was to celebrate Miss Golden Globe — the young woman whose parent is a celebrity who gets to hand out the statuettes at the Golden Globes, a role they’re now referring to as “Golden Globe Ambassador,” which is probably a wise change of nomenclature. This year, the honor goes to Simone Garcia Johnson, whose Dad is The Rock, and who seems like a lovely young woman (part of the change in the role is that it’s now also going to encompass philanthropic duties throughout the year; Simone’s cause is, per The Hollywood Reporter, “GlobalGirl Media, which empowers young women in journalism from disadvantaged areas by providing them the tools they need to become journalists and the opportunity to use their voice”).
But ALSO this party is obviously so celebrities can get out there and schmooze the Hollywood Foreign Press, one of my favorite aspects of awards season. And I must warn you: MANY of them look great at this party.
