Last Night in Soho is a psychological thriller in which, I believe, Thomasin McKenzie finds herself in the 60s inside Anya Taylor-Joy’s body, with DRAMATIC RESULTS in both past and present. But it’s also the last screen role for both Margaret Nolan and Diana Rigg, both of whom died last autumn. (We did a Rigg retrospective, which was a hoot.) So as much as I appreciate the glitz, I kind of wish the assignment had been, “Come as your favorite Diana Rigg role.” Obviously there’s Emma Peel, and Lady Holiday, and Oleanna Tyrell, but hat-tip to whoever would have chosen Miss Hardbroom from The Worst Witch.
