First, we had Ziad Nakad at this chateau that’s such a good dupe for Versailles, in spirit, that it actually DID play Versailles in — wait for it — Versailles. Stephane Rolland went with a much more Spartan vibe at Theatre de la Villette in Paris, but the photos still manage to ooze an isolated sort of drama. You can read here in WWD all about his sculptural inspirations; he concludes by saying that it’s “during the nightmare periods” that you have to push forth with the most creativity, and I feel like I need to remind myself of that more often.
