I can’t say I love the gloves — they’re just a little too costume-y for my taste — but otherwise, this is pleasantly fun and totally non-serious in a way that feels right for the People’s Choice Awards, which I think may have given SJP this award simply because her Carrie Bradshaw halo is wide and bright. Although it’s possible the overlap in the Venn Diagram between People Who Watch Divorce and People Who Vote in the People’s Choice Awards may be larger than I think it is, it feels more to me like the people doing the choosing scanned their way down their ballot and thought, “eh, I don’t watch that show, but I like SJP! I’ll vote for her!” And why not go and wear something shiny to pick up something shiny, after all?
