This was snapped at the “SAG-AFTRA Foundation Conversations: Shailene Woodley Career Retrospective event at The Meryl Streep Center for Performing Artists” on Tuesday afternoon and it is ABSOLUTELY Stop One for Shailene in her quest to win that Best Guest Actress in a Drama Emmy — a quest which, by the way, I absolutely support. (I believe I said on these virtual pages that I was gonna RAGE if she got snubbed and now I’m gonna up the ante: I will go apeshit if she loses! Like, just tear my apartment apart! Chairs out the window! Ripping down my window treatments. Etc.) And thus, she is not wearing anything super crazy. It’s jeans. It’s a textural shirt that is a little sheer, so she seems young, but not so see-through that it’s unseemly to wear in a place named after Meryl Streep. It’s a funky blazer. (I’m sure a large percentage of Emmy voters love a funky blazer.) It’s a fresh face and her Secret Life of the American Teenager hair, reminding you that you’ve known her forever and she’s earned this! Artfully done, everyone. Go out and win this!
