Adam Sandler has committed hard to giving his kids some movie roles; his daughters Sadie and Sunny have been in several of his projects in bit parts, he produced You Are So Not Invited To My Bat Mitzvah for them, he gave them plum Happy Gilmore 2 roles, and now we have Don’t Say Good Luck. I have no problem with the girls — they were perfectly nice presences in HG2 — and I am not surprised they want to get into the industry, or that they’d even be good at it, because it’s in their DNA (and Sunny sings in this one, and Adam of course is famously Opera Man). But it does feel like it’s a goddamn miracle at this point if any young actor — or musician — breaks in without a famous relative. At least this is a musical-theater movie, so there should be plenty of other roles that did NOT go to a Sandler. And I will never be mad at a production that hires Melanie Lynskey, so.
