The Palm Springs Film Festival TECHNICALLY kicks off awards season every year, although it’s not televised, so we never typically think of it that way. So — I mentioned this yesterday — right before she wore that very basic black dress to the Critics Choice Awards, Renate opened her 2026 fashion campaign with its polar opposite: this sheer Givenchy with horrendous blocky shoes and a Maidenform chaser. It is ridiculous. And not even just because I am so bored of people mistaking sheers for being interesting; honestly, if it were JUST the top part, maybe it might work, but the whole thing looks like it’s being dragged down by a sale rack full of tulle. I’m sure Sarah Burton thought it looked groovy coming down the runway, but to me it’s low effort, low reward.
She looks like Dakota Johnson a bit in this photo, and come to think of it, Dakota probably ALSO would have worn this. Unless she jumped on this one instead. Dare I fear that that orange-red one will in fact be next on the list? At least it’ll allow us to make scrunchie jokes. This one just has me thinking of a sad mail-order bride.
