Leonardo DiCaprio was all set to win some kind of actor award at the Palm Springs Film Festival — they’re all basically word salad awards designed to bring as many celebs as possible, with few meaningful distinctions between them — but then he missed it because he couldn’t leave St. Barts, due to the attack on Venezuela and related airspace restrictions. Chelsea Handler joked about this at the Critics Choice Awards, but it was in fact TRUE, as is that he was partying with fellow passionate environmentalists Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez (I hope you heard the sarcasm in there; for all the shit Taylor Swift gets for her jet use, no one comes down nearly so hard on self-professed climate warrior and superyacht fan Leo). ANYHOO: His co-stars Teyana and Chase stepped in and accepted the award on his behalf, although I’m sure they were slated to be there anyway. And they almost certainly look more interesting than Leo would have, so that’s a win as well.
